OpenAI added collaboration spaces, document and slide features to ChatGPT as it moves to target the business software market. TechCrunch reported on Monday that OpenAI unveiled the new functions for office users at its DevDay developer event in San Francisco.

The most notable feature is "Spaces". Spaces is a shared workspace inside ChatGPT where enterprise users can work with the chatbot and the newly released AI agent persona "Dots". Dots performs tasks on a user's behalf.

Chief Executive Sam Altman said in a presentation at the event that users can instruct Spaces to check team channels on a specific page and update it by reflecting what it finds.

OpenAI also introduced a writing tool called "Pages". Pages is a new type of document for collaboration between humans and agents, supporting writing, research, chart creation, image production and information visualisation.

It also added a collaborative slides feature. Users can create slides through conversation alone inside ChatGPT. After they are generated, multiple employees and agents can work together, leaving comments and editing them.

OpenAI has maintained a close partnership with Microsoft since its early days, but these features have brought it further into Microsoft's business software territory.
