Enterprise browser developer Island has raised $400 million in a Series F round. SiliconANGLE reported on Thursday that the funding values Island at $6.4 billion. That is $1.8 billion higher than in the previous round.

The round was led by Evolution Equity Partners. Institutional investors including JPMorgan, Sequoia Capital and Georgian also participated. Island plans to deploy the funds for product development and market expansion.

Island provides a browser used by corporate employees to access cloud-based business applications. The Island browser blocks threats such as malicious webpages and phishing emails. It can also block login requests in insecure work devices or WiFi environments.

The Island browser is based on Chromium, and employees who prefer Chrome or other consumer browsers can use Island features through an extension. It also offers an endpoint client, Island Desktop, that protects programs running on devices.

Island last month added AI workplace security features. The features support creating a list of AI agents used by employees in an organisation and identifying the MCP servers, files and browser extensions they use. AI tools with security risks are blocked, and permitted work is protected by filtering malicious prompts or removing excessive access privileges. The features also record employees' AI agent inference costs to identify tasks that can be shifted to unused tools or cheaper models.

Island plans to accelerate product development and market expansion with the new funding. It also set a plan to hire 500 employees by mid-2027.
