Why upload speeds are slower than downloads on the same internet connection
Home internet connections often feel fast when downloading files but noticeably slower when uploading. The gap stems from user behavior and how networks are built. Internet service providers typically allocate more bandwidth to downloads because most people consume more data than they send. Cable networks, originally designed for cable TV, also divide limited spectrum between download and upload and have favored downloads. Fiber services more often offer symmetrical speeds, though performance can still vary.
