Hecto Group joins state project to develop AI medical devices for early lung cancer detection

Hecto Group is developing AI medical devices to help detect lung cancer early and predict recurrence through a state-backed digital healthcare project. Its HAI unit joined the OnKoTECT consortium led by Seoul National University Bundang Hospital under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy\'s Bio Industry Technology Development programme. The consortium will receive 15.5 billion won in research funding through December 2030 to develop and commercialise AI for early diagnosis and recurrence prediction of pancreatic and lung cancers.

Samsung launches Galaxy S26 FE at 1,045,000 won with flagship features

Samsung Electronics unveiled the Galaxy S26 Fan Edition (FE), bringing key flagship features from the Galaxy S series while easing the price burden. The company said it will roll out the phone from Sept. 4 in South Korea, the United States, the UK and Thailand. The device offers enhanced photo and video functions, the latest Galaxy AI on One UI 9, a 4,900 mAh battery and a 120Hz 6.7-inch AMOLED display. In South Korea, the 256GB model starts at 1,045,000 won.

Some countries tax bitcoin unrealised gains when taxpayers lose residency status

Some countries including Canada and Australia can levy tax on unrealised bitcoin gains when a taxpayer loses tax residency, prompting some high-value holders to consider emigration timing ahead of selling, CryptoSlate reported. Automatic exchange of crypto transaction and tax residency data under CRS and CARF is reinforcing the focus on tax residency. The OECD says 76 jurisdictions plan to join CARF, with cross-border exchanges starting in 2027. Rules vary across the UK, Spain, the United States and Puerto Rico.
