Thailand spells out crypto ETF rules, bitcoin and ethereum to be allowed first
Thailand has advanced plans to introduce spot cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds by releasing draft rules for local crypto ETFs and standards for overseas digital asset custodians. Initial approval would be limited to bitcoin and ethereum, allowing asset managers to launch passive ETFs tracking their prices. Each ETF would hold only one cryptocurrency and keep average net exposure at 80 percent or more. Trading would be done only through the Thai SEC, and feedback is open until Sept. 20.
