FSS moves to curb false and exaggerated ETF ads, warns investors to check hidden risks
South Korea\'s Financial Supervisory Service is moving to rein in heated marketing in the exchange-traded fund market. It released five checkpoints for investors to consider when watching ETF advertisements and social media content, citing cases of false or exaggerated promotions. The watchdog warned against ads that imply principal protection or guaranteed monthly income, overlook currency risk in overseas stock ETFs, highlight selective performance, and use unsupported claims. It also urged investors to check hidden costs beyond headline fees.
