OpenAI shares case of automating software maintenance using GPT-6
OpenAI has disclosed on its blog how it automated internal software maintenance using its coding agent Codex and GPT-6 family models. The company assigned GPT-6 Astra to identify and remove unused code by reviewing pull requests, Slack conversations and internal records. Engineers merged more than 1,400 pull requests and deleted over 800,000 lines of code. OpenAI also used Astra to clean up old experiments and feature flags, and tested cheaper GPT-6.1 Sol for similar tasks.
