Mara cuts bitcoin holdings by 34 percent, steps up shift to AI data centres
Mara Holdings sold $1.63 billion worth of bitcoin in the first half of 2026, disposing of about 23,093 BTC at an average price of about $70,631 per coin. The sale equalled about 34 percent of the 53,822 BTC it held at the end of 2025, cutting holdings to 35,577 BTC by mid-year. The company said it used proceeds for operations, growth opportunities and liquidity management as revenue fell in both quarters.
