Apple faces climate goal test after Tim Cook exit, with AI as wild card
Apple, after Tim Cook stepped down as CEO, faces a new test in keeping its climate goals as it enters the AI race. Its 2025 greenhouse gas emissions fell more than 60 percent from 2015 to about 15.3 million tonnes. Apple aims to cut emissions 75 percent by 2030 and offset the remainder with high-quality carbon removal. Progress slowed in 2025, and past carbon-neutral marketing drew criticism and legal action.
