Samsung Electronics joins apartment heating and cooling electrification push, seeks nationwide rollout from 2028

Samsung Electronics is entering the electrification market for heating and cooling in apartments and other multi-family housing. The company announced a carbon-reduction plan based on its EHS All-in-One heat pump at a K-GX strategy briefing in Seoul. It plans to launch the product this year, establish a domestic supply base by 2027 and begin nationwide distribution in 2028 to 2029. Field demonstrations are under way, with plans for standards and partner training.

Taiwan Railway steps up push for low-carbon rail, from LEDs to new trains

Taiwan Railway Corp has for the first time measured companywide greenhouse gas emissions and aims to cut them 3 percent by 2028 from a 2025 baseline of 428,400 tonnes of CO2 equivalent. Train operations accounted for 75.1 percent of emissions. The company plans 11 reduction projects across six areas, including new energy-efficient trains, LED lighting and equipment upgrades. It is also building a cloud platform and pursuing 73 solar projects.

Korea space agency says Nuriho fifth launch successful, sixth launch in second half 2027

South Korea’s homegrown Nuriho (KSLV-II) rocket has succeeded in its fifth launch, carrying a record 15 satellites and separating all of them, the Korea Aerospace Administration said. The mission deployed 5 NeonSat satellites and 10 CubeSats into about a 575 km orbit, using a new low-shock separation device. The agency plans to launch 5 more NeonSats on Nuriho’s sixth flight in 2027 to build a 10-satellite constellation.
