Race to foster AI data centres; industry calls for deregulation and tax credits

Industry figures called for developing AI data centres as \"AI factories\" that produce computing resources, citing job creation and regional balanced development. At a forum hosted by the Korea Telecommunications Operators Association in Seoul, an SK Telecom executive urged attracting big tech AI computing demand and building domestic production hubs, while calling for deregulation and tax credits. Speakers also outlined planned sub-regulations for a special AI data centre law, including power-capacity criteria, streamlined permits and special zones outside the capital region.

Boring Company unveils \'Liner Truck\' using Model 3 drivetrain to haul containers in tunnels

Elon Musk-led Boring Company showed remote-controlled freight-handling equipment using Tesla Model 3 battery packs and drive units to move a standard shipping container inside a tunnel. The company is seeking to electrify and automate internal logistics for heavy loads in narrow tunnels, though the extremely tight clearance raises questions about stable remote control. The Liner Truck can carry up to 22,000 pounds but has limited speed and range under load.
