Shopify COO calls for X-shaped talent in AI era

In the AI era, workers who can quickly gain expertise across multiple fields may be more competitive than specialists in a single area, an opinion article said. Shopify Chief Operating Officer Jess Hertz introduced the idea of “X-shaped talent,” an expansion of the traditional T-shaped model. She said AI can help employees cross job boundaries and operate in several areas. Shopify has already reflected AI use in its HR and work systems.

KT CEO Park Yoon-young says \'AI for Everyone\' will deliver everyday-life-focused AI that excludes no one

KT CEO Park Yoon-young (박윤영) said the company will create an environment in which no one is excluded from using AI through its \'AI for Everyone\' initiative. He said KT plans to develop everyday-life-focused AI that solves practical problems and reaches offline sites. Park outlined goals for the KT consortium, including enabling all citizens to use well-built AI without exclusion, and improving service speed, accuracy and stability through a multi-model structure and a \'token factory\'.

Kakao holds AI ideathon with five national universities; 145 students take part

Kakao will work with 145 students from five regional national universities to develop agentic AI services aimed at solving social problems. The company said it held the Kakao Tech Campus Ideathon on Aug. 22 and 23 with students from Kangwon, Kyungpook, Pusan, Chonnam and Chungnam National Universities. Kakao has shifted this year’s curriculum from web and app development to planning and developing agentic AI services.
