Summer sunlight may not ease vitamin D deficiency for some groups, study finds
Some older adults and some darker-skinned adults may not move far out of vitamin D insufficiency even as summer daylight increases, an analysis found. Researchers at Newcastle University analysed screening data from a clinical trial involving northern England residents and found a high share still fell below a benchmark in summer. Shortfalls rose again among those 65 and over after May. Among darker-skinned minority adults, the below-benchmark share stayed above 64 percent every month.
