Samsung SDS teams up with FuriosaAI to launch Korean NPU-based NPUaaS
Samsung SDS said on July 20 it launched NPU as a Service on its Samsung Cloud Platform using FuriosaAI\'s second-generation NPU, Renegade. Samsung SDS said the NPU is optimized for AI inference and offers better power efficiency and cost performance than GPUs in tasks such as answer generation, document analysis and image classification. Customers can subscribe without buying servers and choose from 1, 2, 4 or 8 NPUs.

Korean AI chips speed up mass production, commercialisation as MSIT holds growth forum
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT held the K-AI Semiconductor Growth Forum in Seoul on June 4 to share results from domestic AI chip development and discuss growth strategies. About 300 people attended, including government, parliament and industry representatives. The forum presented pilot project cases and export-linked examples, and disclosed progress on the K-Perf performance benchmark. The ministry also outlined plans to expand standards, enhance testing and open a technical support centre in the first half.

LG Uplus joins hands with FuriosaAI to develop AI appliance
LG Uplus said on Sunday it will work with domestic AI semiconductor company FuriosaAI to develop a “sovereign AI appliance” that can be used securely inside companies. The two signed an MOU at MWC26 in Barcelona. The device will process data only on-premise, combining LG Uplus’ enterprise AI platform, LG AI Research’s EXAONE 4.0 model and FuriosaAI’s NPU. They also plan to expand cooperation to NPUaaS and physical AI.
