LG Electronics\' Choi Seok-ho and JM JECO\'s Choi Yoon-hwa named August Korea Engineer Award winners
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Industrial Technology Association (KOITA) named LG Electronics senior researcher Choi Seok-ho (최석호) and JM JECO CEO Choi Yoon-hwa (최윤화) as August 2026 winners of the Korea Engineer Award. Choi Seok-ho was recognised for applying biomimetic fluid-control design to fans used in air conditioners and air purifiers, improving airflow and energy efficiency. Choi Yoon-hwa was recognised for developing and commercialising copper-conductor-based power semiconductor packaging technology.

LG Chem\'s Kim Se-hyun, Emtech\'s Choi Yang-il win July Korea Engineer Award
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Industrial Technology Association said on July 13 that Kim Se-hyun of LG Chem and Choi Yang-il of Emtech were selected as July winners of the Korea Engineer Award. The award recognizes engineers who contribute at technology sites and includes a deputy prime minister\'s award and 5 million won in prize money. Kim developed mass-production technology for carbon nanotubes for secondary batteries. Choi was recognized for localising photoresist filling equipment.

Jung Haesung and Jang Yonghyun win February Korea Engineer Award
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Industrial Technology Association selected Jung Haesung of Korea Aerospace Industries and Jang Yonghyun of Hancom Lifecare as February Korea Engineer Award winners. Jung was recognised for developing integrated operating software for automated test equipment, while Jang was cited for developing an ultralight firefighter breathing apparatus using high-strength carbon materials that reduces weight and improves durability.
