Samsung, LG face off over AI appliances, subscriptions at KES 2026
Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics are showcasing AI-powered home appliances and subscription services at KES 2026, which opened on Monday at COEX in Seoul. Samsung set up experience zones linking mobile devices, appliances and displays, featuring Bespoke AI home products and its Samsung AI Subscription service. LG divided its exhibition into daily-life and industrial zones, highlighting a home robot, appliance subscriptions, smart cottage demonstrations and data-centre cooling technology.

ETRI to unveil AI video analysis-focused compression technology at KES 2026
Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) said it will unveil three next-generation media technologies at Korea Electronics Show (KES) 2026 in Seoul from Oct. 13 to 16. They include an AI-oriented video coding technology that compresses and transmits information needed for AI analysis, a multi-person 3D human generation and free-viewpoint reproduction technology using a small number of cameras, and a generative AI-based previsualisation video production support technology.

Gosung Engineering, KGA to develop AI drone cover-integrated battery
Gosung Engineering said on Jan. 15 it signed an MOU with KGA to develop a cover-integrated battery for AI drones. The two companies will combine KGA’s expandable power solution with a drone case cover and cooperate on product R&D, prototype production, performance verification, commercialisation, overseas marketing and participation in government and public research projects. Gosung Engineering plans a KOSDAQ listing by 2027.
