Ethereum to test-run \'Glamsterdam\' on Oct. 27, changing block processing method
Ethereum will activate its next upgrade, Glamsterdam, on the Hoodi testnet on Oct. 27 local time, with no date set for mainnet deployment. The Ethereum Foundation plans to apply the upgrade at epoch 132,352 and slot 4,235,264. Following Sepolia testing, the upgrade changes block building and validation to expand L1 throughput, revises gas accounting and raises Hoodi’s gas limit to 200 million.

Ethereum\'s Glamsterdam upgrade nears as block size set to triple
Ethereum’s next major upgrade, Glamsterdam, has cleared its first test after being deployed on the Sepolia testnet and finalising blocks without major issues. The upgrade combines the Gloas consensus-layer and Amsterdam execution-layer changes. Researchers say it could expand Ethereum’s layer-1 capacity by at least three times and raise the smart contract size limit from 24KiB to 64KiB. The schedule remains uncertain, with the next testnet step and a 2026 fourth-quarter mainnet target.

Ethereum \'Glamsterdam\' test run steps up push to improve layer 1 scalability
Ethereum\'s next major upgrade, Glamsterdam, has gone live on the Sepolia testnet in a key trial ahead of mainnet activation. The Ethereum Foundation said the upgrade focuses on advancing the layer 1 scaling roadmap, including enshrined proposer-builder separation, block-level access lists and a gas pricing overhaul. Developers plan to set an activation schedule for the Hoodi testnet next, before finalising the mainnet timeline.
