Leaders should talk less and listen more to improve meeting results

Leaders should raise meeting results by listening to employees and encouraging participation rather than dominating discussions, a study found. It also highlighted the need to cut unnecessary meetings and set clear goals. Researchers analysing decision-making in 22 four-person teams found the lowest performance where leaders asked questions but did not listen carefully. Other suggestions included sharing agendas in advance, limiting attendance and using silent brainstorming via chat or shared documents.
