Commercial security services based on advanced AI models spread
Moves by the security industry are accelerating to offer commercial services that use large language models to help public and private organisations detect software vulnerabilities. Cyber attacks enter AI automation era as subscription crime platforms spread
Cyber attackers are increasingly using AI, accelerating the automation of phishing crimes, an analysis shows. Device-code phishing attacks jumped sharply from January to April 2026 compared with the second half of 2025, according to an Axios report citing Huntress. Huntress said phishing-as-a-service platforms package identity theft infrastructure, phishing kits and AI workflows for subscription. It said generative AI is enabling mass personalisation of messages and helping industrialise phishing operations.

Five Eyes warn disruptive AI cyber attacks could become reality within months
The Five Eyes signals intelligence alliance of Australia, the United States, Britain, New Zealand and Canada has warned that disruptive AI-driven cyber attacks targeting governments and businesses could become reality within months, The Guardian reported. In a joint statement, the agencies said AI may improve cyber defence over time but is also accelerating the speed, scale and sophistication of threats. They said frontier AI models could fundamentally change cyber capabilities sooner than expected.
