Mandatory disclosure of AI training data from government-backed projects raises questions over detailed criteria

South Korea is moving to require AI training data built or produced during government-backed projects to be provided through the national AI Hub platform. As detailed rules are drafted ahead of an April start, debate is growing over whether data obtained or further processed at companies’ own expense should also be subject to disclosure in joint public-private projects. Another issue is how authorities will assess requests to exclude data on grounds such as trade secrets, privacy or copyrights.

SpaceX returns to profit in Q3 as revenue jumps to $14.5 billion

SpaceX returned to profit in the third quarter even as it sharply increased investment in artificial intelligence, the New York Times reported on Oct. 20. The company reported revenue of $14.5 billion, up more than 2.5 times from a year earlier, and net income of $4.4 billion, or 37 cents a share, reversing a prior-year loss. It said AI and satellite internet led growth.

Salesforce to buy AI marketing firm Braze for $5.66 billion

Salesforce will acquire AI-based marketing platform company Braze for about $5.66 billion, CNBC reported on Oct. 20. Salesforce plans to complete the deal within fiscal 2028 after shareholder and regulatory approvals. Following the acquisition news, trading in Braze shares was briefly halted before the market opened. The stock then surged more than 51 percent to close at $45.57, CNBC reported.
