Samsung SDI becomes first to prove fire safety of UPS batteries worldwide

Samsung SDI said on Monday its uninterruptible power supply batteries became the first in the world to meet all evaluation criteria in an indoor large-scale fire test overseen by certification body UL Solutions. The test checks whether a fire in a battery module spreads to adjacent racks or systems. Samsung SDI said the ignited module burned out but caused no fire spread, gas release, explosion or rupture, and self-extinguished without sprinklers.

Apple releases iOS 27 public beta, three key features to try first

Apple has begun distributing the iOS 27 public beta, allowing general users to install the new operating system ahead of its official release, though bugs and unfinished features may remain. TechRadar said the public beta is more accessible than the developer beta and somewhat more stable than early versions. The update spotlights a major Siri AI overhaul, enhanced photo editing and easier Shortcuts automation using natural-language commands. The final iOS 27 is expected in September.

Kraken launches cryptocurrency payment card in UK and Europe with up to 2 percent cashback

Cryptocurrency exchange Kraken has begun issuing debit cards for users in Britain and the European Economic Area. Users can spend cryptocurrencies and cash held in their Kraken accounts, with payments running on the Mastercard network and conversions available for more than 600 currencies at purchase. Kraken says it does not charge its own payment or ATM fees. Cashback of up to 2 percent depends on average balances and is paid weekly in bitcoin, euros or pounds.
