Australia steps up crypto ATM crackdown, halts 96 machines amid money laundering concerns
Australia’s financial crime regulator AUSTRAC suspended the virtual asset service provider registration of Cryptolink, the country’s largest crypto ATM operator, for three months and stopped 96 machines. AUSTRAC said the company failed to meet basic anti-money laundering reporting obligations, including reporting cash transactions above thresholds, and did not respond properly to information requests. The suspension runs until Nov. 9, 2026, as regulators intensify oversight of the sector.
