U.S. Broadcast Media and Telecommunications Commission to decide follow-up action after approving YTN largest shareholder change
The Broadcast Media and Telecommunications Commission is expected to put follow-up administrative measures on the agenda soon over whether its approval of YTN’s largest shareholder change for Eugene ENT was flawed. Many commissioners agreed the approval process had problems, including a decision by a two-member panel, but differed over whether this warrants ex officio cancellation and on timing. Views ranged from calling the approval void or subject to cancellation to urging caution until court rulings and investigations conclude.

Cable TV to guarantee 80 percent of prior-year PP channel fees annually
South Korea’s cable TV system operators will guarantee 80 percent of the previous year’s channel fees each year to improve programme providers’ production and scheduling stability. Under revised guidelines unveiled on Aug. 13, operators will first allocate 80 percent of prior-year fees to each channel after setting the year’s total content payments, and apply audience share and evaluations only to remaining funds. Additional payments of 3 to 15 percent will reward higher TV content investment, while holdback-related bonuses and penalties will also apply.
