Coupang self-probe under fire over laptop forensics, government cooperation row
At a joint National Assembly hearing on Coupang’s personal data leak case, lawmakers challenged the technical credibility of the company’s self-investigation announced on Dec. 25. They questioned whether a single laptop forensic analysis could identify the scope of a large-scale data access case and warned the company may be minimising the incident. Government officials said Coupang pre-empted investigative conclusions and rejected claims of instruction, while other lawmakers raised questions over evidence handling and cooperation with U.S. tax authorities.
