Bae Gyeong-hun calls for AI as national growth engine, presents Korea strategy at G20
Bae Gyeong-hun (배경훈), South Korea’s deputy prime minister and science minister, shared Seoul’s policy direction to foster AI as a driver of national innovation and economic growth at a G20 innovation ministers’ meeting. The ministry said Bae attended as South Korea’s lead representative in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He outlined expanded basic research investment, steps to streamline R&D, and initiatives including the SEED and K-Moonshot projects, as well as plans to broaden AI use and train talent.

NIA, KOSA to step up cooperation on AI policy, laws and public-sector AX
South Korea\'s National Information Society Agency (NIA) said on Tuesday it will strengthen cooperation with the Korea AI and Software Industry Association (KOSA) on AI policy and legislation and jointly identify cooperation tasks to expand public-sector AI transformation (AX). The two organisations reviewed work supporting subordinate regulations under the Basic AI Act and an AI support desk. They also discussed linking their AX centres, cooperation on a nationwide AI capability project and support for global expansion by AI and software companies.

South Korea\'s ICT ministry eyes access to Anthropic\'s Mythos
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT is actively exploring participation in Anthropic\'s cybersecurity consultative body, Project Glasswing. The ministry held a meeting with Anthropic and multiple Korean agencies on AI and cybersecurity cooperation and conveyed broad interest in collaboration, including information sharing on vulnerability disclosures. Prospects remain uncertain due to reported White House opposition to expanding the project and the absence of an MOU with Anthropic. The ministry is also accelerating domestic responses to AI-driven cyber threats.
