Tether USDT supply posts biggest monthly drop since 2022 FTX collapse

Tether\'s USDT is seeing its largest monthly decline since the 2022 collapse of FTX, Cointelegraph reported on Feb. 20. The outlet said the supply drop accelerated as whale investors and smart-money traders reduced their USDT holdings. Artemis Analytics data showed circulating supply fell about $1.5 billion in February and $1.2 billion in January. The broader stablecoin market rose 2.33 percent in February, DeFiLlama data showed.

Stablecoin transaction volume hits $35 trillion, but real payments are 1 percent

Stablecoin transfers on blockchains totalled about $35 trillion last year, but only about 1 percent was used for real payments, an analysis found. A joint report by McKinsey and Artemis Analytics said actual payment activity via stablecoins was about $380 billion in 2025. That equals 1 percent of total stablecoin transaction volume and about 0.02 percent of the global payments market, it said.
