KakaoBank is holding an event for its foreign currency account customers in which it gives out random foreign currency.

KakaoBank said on Sunday the "Random draw and receive foreign currency" event will run through Sept. 20 for foreign currency account customers.

KakaoBank's foreign currency account is a foreign currency demand deposit product launched in June. It supports nine currencies: U.S. dollars, Japanese yen, euros, Canadian dollars, Australian dollars, New Zealand dollars, British pounds, Hong Kong dollars and Singapore dollars.

Customers can participate by pressing the "Draw and receive foreign currency" button on the event page in the KakaoBank app. The awarded currency is deposited immediately into the foreign currency account.

If a friend participates for the first time through the event share link, customers also receive one additional draw. Among customers who collect at least three currencies, KakaoBank will select 100 winners by lottery and pay them $100 each. The prizes will be deposited sequentially into foreign currency accounts starting on Oct. 1.

KakaoBank plans to expand its foreign currency-related services, including launching a "foreign currency check card" that includes perks such as fee-free overseas payments.

A KakaoBank official said, "We prepared this event so customers can experience the convenience of the foreign currency account firsthand."
