KB Kookmin Bank has introduced a real-time smishing detection service on KB Star Banking that users can access without installing a separate app.
The bank said on Thursday it launched the Anti-Smishing service within KB Star Banking to help prevent smishing damage and strengthen protection for financial consumers.
Anti-Smishing is a financial security service that detects malicious mobile links disguised as parcel tracking, wedding invitations or government agencies and provides guidance on whether they are risky.
On Android smartphones, it detects malicious links received via text messages or messenger apps in real time and sends warning alerts.
On iOS-based iPhones, it provides warning alerts when users access malicious websites, helping them leave those sites.
A KB Kookmin Bank official said smishing methods are becoming increasingly sophisticated, making it harder for customers to judge risks on their own. The official said the bank will continue to expand digital technology-based services to prevent financial incidents.
