[DigitalToday reporter Seulgi Son] Kurly said on Thursday that a production planning optimisation paper 발표ed by its AX center has been published in the global industrial engineering journal Computers & Industrial Engineering (CAIE).

The paper presents an order-batching model that resolves bottlenecks in logistics processes using data. Kurly stressed that CAIE, an SCI-level journal, requires both academic achievement and demonstrated practical impact.

Based on past logistics data, the research team developed an algorithm that predicts the number of product boxes generated per order and minimises it. Field tests showed logistics congestion fell by up to 92 percent compared with existing methods, and efficiency improved by 33 percent compared with meta-heuristic techniques.

The research was also invited to the industrial engineering conference Logistics Management 2025, held in Milan in September last year. Kurly said academia and industry focused on the Korean-style fulfilment model and how in-house corporate research is conducted.

Researcher Jooyoung Wang at Kurly's AX center said, "This paper shows that Kurly is setting global standards in data-driven logistics," and added, "We will continue research for distribution and logistics innovation."
