Woori Financial Group's Woori Financial Future Foundation is offering financial education to help young people preparing for independent living achieve economic self-reliance. It provides training on preventing financial fraud and managing credit, and links it to savings support to help build a stable foundation for independence.

The Woori Financial Future Foundation said on June 15 it held the 'WOORI CHANCE Financial Education for Young People Preparing for Independent Living' on June 13 at Woori Financial Group headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul.

The project is an inclusive finance programme designed to strengthen the economic capabilities of 22 to 29-year-olds who were protected in child-care facilities and similar settings before entering society. A total of 200 young people will take part in the sixth and seventh rounds of the training.

The training combines in-person lectures with online education. Participants receive 12 sessions of one-on-one tailored online financial education over six months. Starting this year, the foundation also introduced a supporters system in which earlier graduates who completed the programme participate as mentors for juniors.

It also provides savings support. If a participant saves at least 1,500,000 won during the six-month training period, the foundation matches it with 1,500,000 won, enabling the participant to build a 3,000,000 won lump sum needed in the early stages of entering society.

A Woori Financial Future Foundation official said, "We will continue providing practical support so young people can achieve financial independence based on healthy financial habits."
