South Korea’s KOSPI broke above 4,600, extending a run of record highs.
The KOSPI opened on Wednesday at 4,566.34 and quickly broke above 4,600. As of 9:10 a.m., it was up 80.27 points, or 1.77 percent, at 4,605.75.
Foreigners were net buyers of 367.7 billion won, while individual investors and institutions were net sellers of 222.6 billion won and 138.9 billion won, respectively.
All of the top 10 stocks by market capitalisation were in the red. Samsung Electronics hit a record high, with shares trading at 140,000 won, and SK Hynix rose 4.27 percent to 757,000 won.
LG Energy Solution rose 0.99 percent, Samsung Biologics gained 2.79 percent, Hyundai Motor climbed 6.98 percent, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries added 1.45 percent, SK Square rose 1.04 percent, Doosan Enerbility gained 0.35 percent and Hanwha Aerospace advanced 2.35 percent.
