Samsung Electronics said on Tuesday it will launch four new 2026 Odyssey gaming monitors, including the Odyssey G8, the first in the gaming monitor industry to support 6K resolution. The lineup consists of two 6K and 5K resolution models and two models equipped with OLED panels.
The 32-inch Odyssey G8 (G80HS) supports 6K (6,144x3,456) resolution and has a retail price of 1.89 million won. It features a "dual mode" that lets users switch between a 6K, 165Hz ultra-high resolution mode and a 3K, 330Hz ultra-high refresh rate mode depending on the usage environment. The 27-inch Odyssey G8 (G80HF) offers 5K (5,120x2,880) resolution with a maximum 180Hz refresh rate, and supports up to 360Hz at QHD resolution when switched to dual mode. Its retail price is 1.19 million won.
Both models feature DisplayPort 2.1 and support Nvidia G-SYNC Compatible and AMD FreeSync Premium. They also implement HDR picture quality through "HDR10+ GAMING" technology that analyses game scenes and frames. HDR10+ GAMING operates by connecting an HDMI 2.1 cable to the HDMI port of Nvidia or Intel graphics cards, and may be limited depending on PC specifications and cable standards.
Samsung Electronics is also introducing models equipped with OLED panels. The Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SH) will be released in 27-inch and 32-inch versions, supporting 4K (3,840x2,160) resolution and a maximum 240Hz refresh rate. It applies "QD-OLED Penta Tandem" technology to improve panel energy efficiency, lifespan and brightness, and includes a "glare-free" feature that reduces light reflection. It supports DisplayPort 2.1 and 98W USB-C charging. The 32-inch model has received VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification and is priced at 1.75 million won, while the 27-inch model costs 1.55 million won.
The 32-inch Odyssey OLED G7 (G73SH) supports a maximum 165Hz refresh rate on a 4K OLED panel, and has a dual mode that can switch to an FHD, 330Hz high refresh rate mode. Its retail price is 1.39 million won. Samsung Electronics maintains the top spot for a third straight year with a 26 percent share of the OLED monitor market by value, the company said.
Lee Heon (이헌), a vice president at Samsung Electronics' Visual Display Business, said, "This new product presents a new standard in the monitor market through ultra-high resolution technology including 6K and OLED innovation." He added, "We will continue to strengthen our competitiveness in the global monitor market with Odyssey."
