LG U+ has surpassed 1.9 million cumulative SIM updates and free replacements in a month as it seeks to ease concerns over International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) security.
LG U+ said on May 15 that it logged 722,470 SIM updates and 1,211,741 SIM replacements from April 13 to the previous day. The cumulative total reached 1,934,211 cases. The cumulative processing rate is 11.4 percent of total subscribers. At the current pace, the cumulative total is expected to exceed 2 million next week.
LG U+ will roll out SIM updates and free replacements sequentially for all customers through the end of the year to randomise IMSIs. Customers eligible for a SIM update can take action themselves remotely through the U+One app and the website. Customers who want a SIM update or replacement at a store can use the service after making a reservation.
