Google plans to announce a new Gemini model at its annual I/O developer conference starting on May 19 local time, sources.news, a media outlet run by journalist Alex Heath (Alex Heath), reported on May 14 local time.

Sources said the model is expected to show performance similar to the latest Open GPT-5.5. It is at a level that does not reach Anthropic Mythos (Mythos), sources.news said.

Ahead of I/O, Google announced it is integrating Gemini across the Android platform and previewed AI app automation, Chrome improvements for Android, creator tools, an Android Auto revamp and new security features.

Google said Gemini Intelligence integrated into Android can move across apps, understand on-screen content and handle tasks that require switching among multiple services. For example, it can review a barbecue guest list, plan a menu, add ingredients to an Instacart shopping cart and then seek user approval before checkout in a single flow. Samat said it always asks the user before completing a transaction, adding: "A person is always in the loop."
