Sandisk said on Jan. 6 it will reorganise its internal SSD lineup under the "SANDISK Optimus" brand.

The existing WD_BLACK and WD Blue NVMe SSD product ranges will be integrated into the new brand structure. Sandisk Optimus internal storage solutions will comprise three lines: Sandisk Optimus, Sandisk Optimus GX and Sandisk Optimus GX PRO.

Sandisk Optimus is a performance line for content creators. It features a balance of speed and price. It includes the existing WD Blue SN5100 NVMe SSD. Sandisk Optimus GX is a product range aimed at gamers. It is designed for gaming environments that prioritise fast load speeds, expanded storage capacity and power efficiency. It includes the existing WD_BLACK SN7100 NVMe SSD.

Sandisk Optimus GX PRO is the top-end line. It is designed for developers, professionals and gamers seeking to build AI PCs, workstations and high-end PCs. It combines the latest storage technology with expanded capacity. The existing WD_BLACK SN8100 NVMe SSD is included in the range. Products featuring the new brand design are expected to be available in the first half of 2026 through some distribution channels worldwide.

Heidi Arkinstall, vice president of global consumer brand and digital marketing at Sandisk, said the SANDISK Optimus brand sets a new benchmark for performance required in consumer environments. She said the portfolio spanning a range of usage environments makes it easier for consumers to choose storage solutions suited to their own setup.

Anil Moolchandani, vice president of client product management at Sandisk, said many users worldwide have trusted Sandisk's internal drives and that the new SANDISK Optimus brand accurately reflects the competitiveness of the portfolio. He said Sandisk's internal SSD lineup is designed to meet the needs of developer workflows and gaming environments, including professionals, gamers and advanced users.
