LG CNS said on May 11 it won Korea Electric Power Corp's information strategy plan consulting project to present an execution strategy and technology roadmap for building a next-generation sales and distribution system.
The sales and distribution system consists of a sales area that handles the full customer service process including calculating, billing and collecting electricity charges for about 25 million customers, and a distribution area that manages power facility operations including distribution design and construction management.
LG CNS was selected as an ISP project partner based on its capability to carry out large-scale next-generation projects across industries including the public sector, telecommunications and finance, and its experience in establishing more than 100 ISPs over the past 3 years.
LG CNS will use the project to overhaul the sales and distribution system’s work framework and design an AI- and data-based intelligent work system.
LG CNS will develop plans to apply an automation platform to reduce manual and repetitive tasks. It will also identify work areas where AI use is highly effective and present practical implementation plans.
Woo-gi Baek (백우기), executive vice president and head of KEPCO’s sales division, said, "In an increasingly complex power environment, KEPCO’s top priority value is thoroughly customer-centric service." He said, "Through this next-generation system build, we will improve the quality of services for the public and fulfill our role as a core resource that leads the power business ecosystem."
Ho-gun Lee (이호군), executive director in charge of LG CNS’s public, telecom and education AX business, said, "This ISP project is a starting point for transforming KEPCO’s core business systems into an AI- and data-based intelligent framework." He said, "We will present the optimal strategy and execution plan so it can successfully lead to the full build project going forward."
