Daesang will work with the Export-Import Bank of Korea in a matching-grant arrangement to raise a total of 550 million won to support food for vulnerable groups in local communities.

Daesang said on May 11 it will join “Just Dream”, a welfare programme for vulnerable groups run by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and provide 10,000 food package sets worth 350 million won.

Just Dream is a welfare project that provides food and daily necessities to people facing livelihood difficulties. This support was arranged through a matching-donation scheme introduced by the Export-Import Bank of Korea to expand participation by private companies. Under the structure, Daesang donates goods and the Export-Import Bank of Korea provides additional support in cash.

Daesang previously held a donation delivery ceremony on May 8 at the headquarters of the Korea Council of Social Welfare in Mapo-gu, Seoul, attended by Kyung-sook Kim (김경숙), head of Daesang’s ESG Management Office, Jin-seop Kim (김진섭), vice president of the Export-Import Bank of Korea, and Hyun-hoon Kim (김현훈), chairman of the Korea Council of Social Welfare, among others.

Under the agreement, Daesang will provide 10,000 food package sets worth 350 million won, consisting of Jongga kimchi, soup products, side dishes and snacks, and the Export-Import Bank of Korea will add 200 million won in cash. The donated goods and support funds totalling 550 million won are due to be delivered to vulnerable groups in local communities over the first and second halves of this year.

Kyung-sook Kim said, "I find it meaningful to be able to join a project that can provide practical help to vulnerable groups in local communities." She said Daesang will continue to carry out various sharing activities in line with its corporate social contribution slogan, "the power of respect that changes tomorrow," to fulfil its corporate social responsibility.
