[DigitalToday reporter Hojeong Lee] Coupang will run a matching campaign through the end of this month, donating clothing to vulnerable groups in line with the number of fashion items customers buy, providing support for up to 180,000 items.

Coupang said on May 5 it will deliver 180,000 items, including shoes, bags, children’s clothing and general apparel, to Good Neighbors, a global NGO specialising in children’s rights.

The campaign, titled "A Piece of My Clothing That Leads to a Donation", runs through the end of this month. When customers buy women’s clothing, men’s clothing, underwear, shoes, bags and children’s clothing in Coupang’s fashion category, the number of donated items increases by the same amount.

All donated items consist of new products. More than 50,000 children’s clothing items are included. After the campaign ends, the accumulated items are expected to be delivered through Good Neighbors to disadvantaged children and vulnerable groups at home and abroad.

Earlier, Coupang donated 250,000 books through Beautiful Store in March. Since last month, it has also been running a monthly health screening project in partnership with the Korean Central Medical Volunteer Service Association, visiting areas with insufficient medical infrastructure.

A Coupang official said the company planned the campaign so customers can take part in giving through everyday shopping. The official said it will continue to expand social contribution activities that can help underprivileged neighbours.
