Samsung Electro-Mechanics is moving to secure technological competitiveness centred on high value-added products and to commercialise new businesses. CEO Chang Duk-hyun outlined the management direction at a 2026 New Year kickoff ceremony held on Thursday at its Suwon site. The event was held online and live-streamed to its Suwon, Sejong and Busan sites.

Chang urged the company to build a robust business structure amid an uncertain external environment. He set securing a technological competitive edge centred on high value-added products as the management direction for 2026. He also stressed enhancing manufacturing competitiveness through expanded automation and improved productivity. The company will also pursue commercialisation of new businesses such as all-solid-state batteries and glass substrates, along with companywide innovation using AI.

Chang said 2026 would be a year of challenge in which technological innovation and changes in the global management environment unfold at the same time. He also presented strategies by business division. The component division will expand development of advanced products such as AI servers and vehicle electronics. The package solution division will focus on high value-added products for servers and AI accelerators. The optical solution division will secure competitiveness to enter growth markets such as vehicle electronics and robots.

Chang called for providing differentiated solutions in growth markets such as AI and robots. "In growth markets such as AI and robots, which are new opportunity factors, let us secure unrivalled competitiveness with No. 1 technology and provide differentiated solutions to customers," he said. "All employees must demonstrate their capabilities in their respective fields," he added. "Let us raise completeness through to the end, turn crises into opportunities, and build technological competitiveness that overwhelms competitors."
