Samsung Electronics has unveiled a three-panel foldable smartphone with a 10-inch display. The company said on December 2 that it will release the latest foldable model, the Galaxy Z Trifold, in South Korea on December 12.
At a Galaxy media briefing held on December 2, Im Seong-taek, vice president of Samsung Electronics Korea, said the Galaxy Z Trifold is a product that embodies Samsung’s craftsmanship and called it a new and most advanced device that takes technology a step further at the forefront of innovation.
The Trifold is the latest foldable device built on experience accumulated since the 2019 Galaxy Fold. It opens to a 253-millimetre 10-inch display and folds to a 164.8-millimetre 6.5-inch bar-type screen. The price is 3,590,400 won.
The Galaxy Z Trifold is 12.9 millimetres thick when folded and 3.9 millimetres when open, making it the thinnest in the Galaxy Z Fold series. Its infolding structure protects the main display. An automatic alert sends on-screen and vibration notifications if an abnormality is detected while folding.
Kang Min-seok, head of smartphone product planning, said the 3.9-millimetre specification carries meaning beyond numbers. He said the team found an optimal hardware layout to secure durability, performance and camera experience, and designed it with 0.1-millimetre detail beyond technical limits to complete the user experience.
The device runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy. It features a 200‑megapixel wide-angle camera. Its 5,600mAh battery is the largest in the Galaxy foldable series. Three cells are placed across the three panels for power supply, and it supports up to 45W fast charging.
It carries an Armor Flex Hinge optimised for the trifold structure. Dual-rail hinges on both sides fold the display smoothly. The hinge housing uses titanium, and the frame uses Advanced Armor Aluminum. The front uses Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, and the back uses a new glass-fibre composite material.
Samsung Electronics added CT scanning before bonding the body and display and introduced laser scanning to secure uniform surface quality. Users can run up to three apps side by side on the 10-inch screen with multi-window. App size can be adjusted. A taskbar on the lower right display allows quick access to recently used apps.
Kang Min-seok said the device expands productivity in the AI era with a large display and upgrades viewing experiences.
A section titled Trifold states that the device offers higher completion than any other product. The Samsung Internet app displays original content alongside summaries or translations generated by Galaxy AI. Samsung Health uses a wide‑screen UI to show health information. The company said users can create content with generative editing and sketch conversion features and compare results with the original view option.
Through Gemini Live, enhanced with multimodal AI, users can share on-screen information or camera footage and ask questions to receive answers from AI.
The device supports the tablet version of Samsung DeX for the first time on a Galaxy smartphone. Selecting Samsung DeX from quick settings creates a PC-like workspace without connecting an external display. Users can create up to four virtual workspaces and run up to five apps in each. It also supports wireless dual-screen use with an external monitor.
Kang Min-seok said the product delivers perfect durability and usability and offers higher completion than any other device.
It comes with 16GB of memory, 512GB of storage and a single Crafted Black colour option. It will be sold through Samsung.com and 20 stores nationwide, including Samsung Gangnam. Experience zones open at 20 stores from December 9. The package includes a Carbon Shield case, a 45W fast charger and a data cable.
Customers who complete purchase and activation receive a six‑month Google AI Pro subscription, a three‑month Wela subscription and one free application of an official protective film. One 50 percent discount on display repair is offered. Samsung Electronics said global rollout will follow in China, Taiwan, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and the United States.
Samsung Electronics President Roh Tae-moon said the company’s continued exploration of new possibilities is leading the future of mobile experiences. He said the Galaxy Z Trifold is based on Samsung’s leadership in new form factors and balances productivity and portability, expanding experiences in work, creativity and connectivity.
