Quantum technology company QAI is hiring talent in quantum computing and AI infrastructure to speed up the advancement of its quantum AI technology.
QAI said on Tuesday it appointed Kim Eui-tae (김의태), co-founder of Devkra, as co-CEO for technology and chief technology officer, and named Shin Sung-wook (신성욱), a Sejong University professor, as head of its research institute. CEO Lim Se-man will keep his position and focus on management and fundraising.
Kim co-founded Devkra and served as head of its research institute, overseeing AI and digital transformation projects for large companies including Samsung Electronics and GS Caltex. At QAI, he will be in charge of IT infrastructure, AI services and development of web services for customers.
Shin will lead research on quantum algorithms and practical applications at QAI.
QAI is building both quantum equipment and GPUs in South Korea. It aims to link them through domestic telecommunications networks to implement a sovereign quantum service. QAI is focusing on providing commercial services by bundling quantum technologies from multiple companies rather than relying on a single quantum technology.
Kim said, "QAI will move toward becoming a knowledge processing infrastructure company spanning GPUs, high-performance computers and quantum computers." He added, "We will run a sovereign quantum cloud with equipment based in South Korea as quickly as possible."
