Ripple (XRP) investors recorded net realised profit of $258.189 million, or about 350 billion won, in a single day on Oct. 1.

The Crypto Basic, a blockchain media outlet, reported on Oct. 5 that this was XRP's biggest daily net realised profit in 2026 based on data from on-chain analytics firm Glassnode.

Notably, XRP's price move that day was limited. XRP ended Oct. 1 up 0.27 percent at $1.4934. It briefly rose to around $1.51 in intraday trade. No clear sharp rally or major price catalyst emerged. Even so, the amount of profit investors locked in was larger than on any other trading day this year.

Net realised profit is a metric that reflects the difference between the price at which an investor acquired XRP and the price at which it was later sold or moved to another address. A sharp rise in net realised profit does not necessarily mean the asset posted a large gain on the day. Net realised profit can also jump when XRP bought at lower prices is moved in large volume at higher prices, realising gains.

The report said the same situation appears to have played out this time. It said investors likely locked in gains by moving large amounts that had entered profit territory while XRP traded around $1.50. The $258.189 million figure implies substantial profit-taking even on a day when XRP rose only 0.27 percent. It was also analysed that selling pressure around $1.51 increased in the process, limiting further price gains.

The report said the backdrop to this profit-taking appears to have been the August uptrend. XRP fell to $0.98 on Aug. 19, then rose 36.9 percent over the month. That was the third-highest August gain in XRP's history. Prices then stayed above $1.40 through September and early October, allowing investors who bought near the August low to build sizable unrealised gains.

As a result, when XRP approached $1.51 on Oct. 1, those investors could lock in more than $0.50 in profit per token. Large amounts of XRP moved during this process, which is seen as pushing daily net realised profit above $200 million, or about 269 billion won.

The recent trend also showed a clear change. Glassnode data showed that in the five days before Oct. 1, XRP net realised profit and loss stayed between minus $1.575 million, or about 2.116 billion won, and $8.24 million, or about 11.07 billion won. Net realised profit and loss was relatively limited during that period, but it suddenly widened on Oct. 1 to the highest level of the year.

The Oct. 1 figure also surpassed the previous 2026 high. The earlier record was $188.575 million, or about 253 billion won, on Jan. 5. XRP rose 12.28 percent that day and hit the year's high of $2.41 the next day. Separately, net realised profit of $70.3 million, or about 94.0 billion won, occurred on March 12. During the rebound from Aug. 20 to 25, daily net realised profit ranged from $24.1 million, or about 32.0 billion won, to $69.4 million, or about 93.0 billion won. All were far below the Oct. 1 figure.

The data show that large-scale profit-taking can occur even when XRP does not rise sharply. With more profit-taking supply emerging around $1.50, selling pressure in that price range could limit further gains in XRP in the short term.
