Cuconn will supply Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance’s pet insurance service with an API that can check pet registration information in real time. It is the first case of Cuconn’s data infrastructure being applied in the pet insurance sector.

Cuconn said on Monday it supplied Hyundai Marine’s pet insurance service with a “pet registration information lookup API”.

The API retrieves registration details in real time, including a pet’s name, sex and breed, based on the pet owner’s name or date of birth and the animal registration number. It can automatically verify information needed at the sign-up stage and also check whether premium discount riders apply.

Subscribers can complete the insurance sign-up process on mobile without submitting additional supporting documents. Insurers can also reduce manual work to recheck information entered by subscribers, lowering errors and workload in the contract screening process.

Cuconn plans to expand its supply of pet-related APIs to insurers that sell pet insurance, starting with this supply to Hyundai Marine.

Cuconn Chief Executive Jong-hyun Kim (김종현) said, “We will expand our data infrastructure so that insurance customers and insurance company staff can use data accurately and conveniently.”
