KT said on Monday it has launched a plugin service for ChatGPT that links to KT's official product information.
According to the company, the KT plugin allows ChatGPT to provide information on KT products, from wireless plans to wired products such as internet and IPTV, based on customers' natural-language questions, without having to search KT's website or app directly.
For example, if a user asks in everyday language such as, "I'm in my 20s and use a lot of data. Which 5G plan would be good?" the service can explore KT products and compare key benefits based on conditions the customer provides, including age, data usage and preferred benefits.
KT said it will use the ChatGPT integration as a starting point to expand touchpoints to various AI platforms customers use in daily life. It said it will make it easier for customers to check KT products and services not only on KT's website and app but also on AI platforms they use, and plans to link the service so customers can use KT product information services on a range of AI platforms, including Claude.
It will also expand the service scope in stages. The company plans to provide various KT services such as bill inquiries and membership services linked to customers' actual usage information, and to develop the service beyond product information searches into a personalized AI service based on each customer's usage information.
Son Jeong-yeop (손정엽), an executive director and head of the Device Business Division at KT's Customer Division, said the spread of generative AI is changing the way customers search for information from search to conversation-centered interactions. He said KT will continue to expand customer touchpoints by connecting KT's accurate and reliable information with various AI platforms so customers can use the products and services they need more easily and conveniently.
