OKX and OKXICE, a joint venture between OKX and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), will open a tokenised securities trading platform.
The Block recently reported that OKXICE notified the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that it will introduce the trading platform using the innovation exemption system. OKX said the new platform will allow only approved users to participate and will support trading tokenised U.S. stocks on the X Layer blockchain.
The platform will cover about 60 U.S.-listed companies. They include Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Tesla, JPMorgan Chase, Coinbase, Palantir and SpaceX. Issuers can apply to be removed from trading within 30 days.
Andrew Cuomo (앤드루 쿠오모), former New York governor and co-chair of OKICE, called it "a milestone toward a true global 24-hour Wall Street" and said it is also a way to keep the future of digital finance in the United States. He added, "Tokenised securities are part of the next stage of finance, and this is only the beginning."
Star Xu (스타 쉬), OKX founder and CEO, said tokenisation will make the listed market more open and seamless and keep it always open. He stressed, "The future of markets is having real ownership on-chain, and full shareholder rights make that possible."
