Tving will accept additional applications from users affected by a personal data leak who have not yet applied for compensation.
Tving said on Sept. 29 it will run an additional compensation application period related to the personal data leak from 10 a.m. on Oct. 6 to 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 30.
The original compensation application period ran from Sept. 7 to Sept. 30. The additional application is for users among affected members who did not apply during the original period. Users can log in on the Tving website or mobile application and check whether they are eligible and apply on the compensation application page in the MY menu.
Compensation is offered by choosing one of the following: free enrollment for 1 year in hack and phishing insurance with coverage of up to 3 million won, 4 months of premium viewing features, 50 Tving points worth 5,000 won, or a 1-month pass for Wave’s ad-supported Standard plan.
The period for providing premium viewing features will also be extended by 1 month, from Dec. 31 this year to Jan. 31 next year.
Members who already applied for compensation during the original application period are excluded from the additional application. Once an application is completed, the compensation item cannot be changed.
Compensation for additional applicants will be provided sequentially from 10 a.m. on Nov. 4. Users can check whether they applied and the payment details in the MY menu on Tving.
A Tving official said the company decided to extend the compensation application period so users can fully review the compensation details and apply. The official said it would continue efforts to protect users and restore trust.
