Krafton has wrapped up a game development support programme for high school students in six countries and unveiled the results from 17 teams.

Krafton and youth education NGO JA Korea said on Sept. 21 they held the final results-sharing event for "Betterground High School", the "2026 Betterground Final", on Sept. 18 at PUBG Seongsu in Seongdong-gu, Seoul.

The showcase brought together 66 participants from 17 teams, including 12 teams from South Korea and five selected from Asian countries. Students presented games they developed, including action, puzzle, simulation, horror and educational titles, at booths and on stage.

Participants introduced their planning intentions and key features and tried out other teams' games. They also shared problems that arose during development and how they solved them.

This year’s programme began in April with an online exploration course, "Play", involving about 1,000 youths from six countries. It then moved to an intensive mentoring course, "Day", for teams that passed a screening of their proposals.

During the Day course, Krafton employees provided lectures and mentoring on game production. The programme then continued with three months of online follow-up mentoring in the "Up" course to support the students' game development.

Betterground is an education-focused social contribution programme Krafton has run since 2023. Its high school programme, "Betterground High School", is operated with JA Korea, while the college programme, "Betterground University", is run with the incorporated association Jump.

JA Korea handles coordination with partner institutions in six countries to enable overseas youth participation. Krafton employees take part in both programmes as volunteer mentors.

Betterground High School is in its fourth year. Since its launch in 2023, a total of 561 people have participated, and 479 of them have completed the programme.

Kim Tae-ryun (김태륜), head of external cooperation at Krafton, said, "We will continue support so that students can build not only technical skills but also social capabilities such as collaboration, communication and problem-solving as they make games."
