Shinhan Bank is taking part in a social contribution campaign that links professional baseball players’ game records and fans’ support to donations.
Shinhan Bank said on Sept. 16 it will join the “Our Neighborhood Superstar” campaign with the ChildFund Korea Foundation.
Six professional baseball players will take part in the campaign: Min-ho Kang (강민호), Seung-ho Kang (강승호), Sung-bum Na (나성범), Chi-hong Ahn (안치홍), Young-pyo Ko (고영표) and Woo-suk Ko (고우석). Donations will be accumulated based on the players’ game records, and Shinhan Bank will match up to 10 million won per player, for a total of 60 million won, to donate.
Min-ho Kang, Seung-ho Kang, Sung-bum Na and Chi-hong Ahn will each accumulate 50,000 won per hit. Young-pyo Ko will accumulate 300,000 won per quality start (QS). Woo-suk Ko will accumulate 100,000 won per inning.
Fans can also take part in donations by leaving supportive comments on the official ChildFund campaign page. Shinhan Bank will set aside 1,000 won per comment and provide up to an additional 10 million won in support.
The donations raised will be used for child welfare projects in regions linked to the players. They are expected to be allocated to talent development in Jeju, support for at-risk infants in the Gyeonggi area, support in Seoul for young carers, youth preparing for independence and children from migrant backgrounds, and talent development in Gwangju.
A Shinhan Bank official said it is a campaign that connects players’ game records and fans’ support to sharing for local children.
Separately, Shinhan Bank will also run an event for its Japan travel-focused debit card, “SOL Trip&J Check,” from Sept. 16 to Nov. 30. SOL Trip&J Check has surpassed 70,000 issuances since its launch in April.
Among customers who newly obtain the card and spend at least 1,000 won in South Korea, the first 40,000 will receive 5,000 My Shinhan Points. Depending on overseas spending, prizes such as a Dyson Airwrap, AirPods 4 and My Shinhan Points will be awarded by a draw.
