Netflix video does not fly in from U.S. each time, secret lies in CDN

Streaming video data does not usually travel from a distant original server each time a user presses play. Content delivery networks, or CDNs, store copies of video, images and files on distributed servers closer to users to reduce response times and spread traffic loads. Netflix runs its own Open Connect system using servers placed inside internet service provider networks or linked to exchange points. Google uses Global Cache in a similar way. CDNs help during traffic surges but do not eliminate all playback issues.

LG Uplus boosts creators\' AI production skills, including Gemini training

LG Uplus said on Saturday it ran a generative AI content production training program for 18 top performers from its creator community, U+BOOSTUS. At a session held on Oct. 2 at Google Korea’s office in southern Seoul, participants used Google’s generative AI Gemini to plan, produce and edit videos. They also learned how to develop topics and story structures, and discussed considerations when using AI in production.

Government pledge to check 1,650 IT systems left private firms to self-audit

South Korea\'s government said last year it would inspect security vulnerabilities in 1,650 IT systems, but did not separately verify the self-check results submitted by private companies, data showed. The Ministry of Science and ICT collected only documents confirming whether checks were conducted and did not receive details of vulnerabilities found. Lawmaker Lee Jeong-heon said some firms that reported completing checks later had personal data leaks or reported incidents to KISA.
